October 2025
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
As the colors of fall begin to paint our city, we’re reminded that every new season brings both beauty and change. Our youth experience this daily as they settle back into the rhythm of school, sports, and new responsibilities. Each day calls them to learn, trust, and walk in faith even when the path ahead feels uncertain.For 65 years, Hospitality House Youth Development has walked beside our youth and families through these transitions. Offering guidance, faith, and steadfast support rooted in the love of Christ. We thank God for the opportunity to serve, and we thank you for standing with us as we enter another season of growth and impact.
65 Years of Faith in Action: A Night to Remember
This month, we celebrated our Annual Fall Banquet: “65 Years of Faithful Service.” It was a blessing to gather and reflect on God’s goodness through the generations! Our guests were inspired by moving testimonies, a powerful video highlighting our youth’s educational journey to Washington, D.C., and visits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) this past spring. We were deeply honored to welcome our keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Ralph E. Galloway, who shared a heartfelt message about faith, perseverance, and the lasting impact of HHYD. Dr. Galloway first received Christ at the age of twelve right here at Hospitality House Youth Development, where he later went on to serve as Executive Director. Today, he continues to inspire as the Founding Pastor of Liberty Community Church and CEO of Strategic Vision and Structure. A lifelong North Minneapolis resident, his story is a living testament to the power of faith and the enduring mission of HHYD.Our Master of Ceremonies was none other than Mike Max himself! Year after year, Mike brings a spirit of joy, humor, and heartfelt enthusiasm that keeps the evening lively and memorable. We’re so thankful for the energy and character he shares with our HHYD family. This year’s banquet brought together 219 guests, friends, supporters, and alumni, who joined us in celebrating six and a half decades of faithful service. Together, we have already raised $166,000 to date, a true blessing that will help us continue to guide and support youth and families in our community. The evening’s most heartfelt moments came from Mia Johnson, a mother, and Ms. Greene, a grandmother, both of whom have youth in our program. They spoke with gratitude about how HHYD has created a safe, faith-filled space not only for their children and grandchildren but also for them as caregivers.Their words reminded us that HHYD doesn’t just stand in the gap for youth; it stands in the gap for families offering compassion, community, and connection through life’s changing seasons.

Learning, Laughter, and God’s Love at Kids Club
We recently kicked off our first Kids Club of the 2025–26 school year, and it was filled with joy from start to finish!

Kids Club runs during school breaks like MEA week, Christmas break, and Spring break, offering children a safe and nurturing place to learn, play, and grow while their parents are working.Over two days, our classrooms were alive with energy, filled with laughter, learning, and the sound of young voices eager to grow. The week ended with a trip to the pumpkin patch, where our youth explored hayrides, corn mazes (no one got lost!), and the simple fun of being together in God’s creation.Moments like these remind us why HHYD exists to help young people discover joy, faith, and belonging in every season of life.

Building Character on the Field!
This fall, our youth also took to the field for another exciting season of flag football!
Beyond the touchdowns and friendly competition, each game was a chance to build teamwork, confidence, and Christ-centered sportsmanship. Our coaches remind players that whether they win or lose, every moment is an opportunity to grow in discipline, respect, and faith.
