65 Years of Faithful Service: Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future

Isaiah 40:31

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Speaker: Pastor Socheat Chum

Minnesota Vikings Chaplain

Born into a family of Cambodian refugees who survived the horrors of the Khmer Rouge, Socheat grew up in St. Paul, MN, as the first American-born child in a Buddhist household. Struggling with identity and belonging, he was drawn into gang life at 13, leading to years of crime, addiction, and near-death experiences. Yet, through it all, God was pursuing him. In 2010, after reluctantly attending church with his wife, he challenged God to prove himself—and that very night, he encountered Jesus in a powerful dream. Months later, overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit, he realized that no amount of good works or reincarnations could save him—only Jesus could. On March 20, 2011, he surrendered his life to Christ, experiencing true peace and freedom for the first time. Since then, he has been passionately sharing his testimony of Redemption, proving that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.
