MISSION OF HHYD: Provide a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of
inner-city youth and their families.

Position Description:

The Development Director plays a crucial leadership and implementation role in fundraising events, the Annual Fund, cultivating individual donors and providing fundraising support to the Executive Director. Additionally, the development director is responsible for overseeing HHYD’s communications, marketing, and public relations. This includes creating and producing print and electronic materials, managing the website, handling e-communications, and managing social networking activities. The Development Director will work on developing and directing the implementation of a 1-5-year fund development plan in collaboration with the Leadership Team and the Development Committee.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
 

1.Development

  • Annually oversee the development of HHYD’s Fund Development Plan.
  • Coordinate the Development Committee to achieve the goals outlined in the Development Plan.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Board members, and staff to ensure maintenance, cultivation of relationships, solicitation, moves management, lapse prevention, and recognition of donors.
  • Research and maintain organized donor records.
  • Identifying new donor prospects.
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and preparing materials and staff for site visits.
  • Collaborate with local churches, businesses, and community partners to build relationships, unlock new growth opportunities, and enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the Finance Director in creating budgets and ensuring activities are delivered within the agreed budget.


2. Fundraising: Events

  • Key fundraising events team staff member, working closely with the Events Chairperson.
  • Guide the implementation of all communications, including: 
    • Manage the creation and production of invitations, programs, event sponsorship letters, and table host communications. 
    • Manage the creation of posters, videos, slide shows, and other communications. Communicate with printer.
  • Oversee the event site, set-up, decorations, and other arrangements.
  • Oversee the silent auction, including planning, leading volunteers, soliciting items, setting up, and preparing materials.
  • Document events (photos, video, print) and create and send appreciation materials.
  • Assist in the creation of and oversee the implementation of new fundraising events. 
  • Solicit event sponsorships.


3. Fundraising: Annual Fund 

  • Identify the organization’s and programs’ marketing needs, create a marketing calendar, collaborate with staff to write content, oversee design and layout, and manage the production of brochures and marketing materials.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of distributing hard copy materials, mass email communications, campaigns, presentations, and appreciation materials.


4. Overall Communications and Marketing

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to establish and execute a comprehensive communications plan aimed at enhancing engagement across various stakeholders, thereby raising awareness and garnering support for the organization and its mission.
  • Develop and promote a compelling brand for HHYD that communicates our mission, vision, programs, and achievements with North Minneapolis children, youth, and their families, including annual reports, brochures, etc.
  • Identify and manage a calendar of public relations opportunities and activities and ensure that the appropriate staff are promptly notified.
  • Maintain an organized system of collecting stories, stats, and results.

5. Website, Social Media, Photography, Public Relations

  • Assist in developing compelling and dynamic website content and enhance web page presentation and design. 
  • Assist in developing and implementing social media content. Encourage participation from staff, board, and volunteers. 
  • Strategically plan and coordinate high-quality photography/video projects.  Manage storage of photos and videos.
  • Write and distribute promotional communication for all significant events, organizational achievements, and changes.


6. Participate in other communications and fundraising-related activities as assigned 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

  2. Active faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with HHYD’s Statement of Faith.
  3. Demonstrated organizational, managerial, and communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  4. Results-based self-starter who can work well independently and within a team.
  5. Motivated, mature individual capable of contributing to strategic and tactical discussions and able to oversee project teams.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to balance multiple projects.
  7. Enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.

  9. Familiar with Raiser’s Edge, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, WordPress, email marketing software, and social media.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in development, marketing, communications, and/or public relations or related field.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Receptionist role involves greeting students, families, and guests, answering incoming calls, directing inquiries appropriately, and performing general administrative duties under the guidance of the Program Director to ensure the smooth operation of Hospitality House Youth Development. Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: SUPPORT THE MISSION OF HHYD: Provide a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of inner-city youth and their families.

  1. Clear and effective communication when greeting and engaging students, families, and guests.
  2. Collection of attendance data and assisting with registration, recruitment, and retention.
  3. Attention to detail and flexibility within day-to-day operations.

 

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

ATTENDANCE  

  • Organize and record daily attendance for all scheduled programs and activities to ensure accurate participation monitoring. Maintain a well-structured attendance log for all events at HHYD.
  • -Assist in providing teachers and staff attendance sheets and rosters for daily programs and events.

 

ARRIVAL / RELEASE / PICK-UP of STUDENTS

  • Welcome and check in our students as they first arrive and record attendance.
  • We require the authorized pick-up person to check in with the front desk. Ensure this policy is followed. Assist HHYD in communicating any important information or reminders at the pick-up point.
  • Ensure students are only released to their parents, guardians, or approved pick-up person (as indicated on their registration form or by other verified notification.

 

BEHAVIOR / BEHAVIOR REPORTS

  • Assist the Program Director and the Education Manager with filing, recording, and communicating behavioral reports.

 

 PHONES

  • Answer inbound calls and voice messages for HHYD, using knowledge of staff and program services to route those calls appropriately.
  • Effectively coordinating timely text message reminders to families regarding important activities and schedules, including events, closures, extracurricular activities, registration periods, and payment due dates. These reminders will be personalized to ensure clarity and relevance, helping families stay informed and engaged with HHYD.
  • Ensuring that messages are accurately recorded and delivered to the appropriate staff or individual.

 

REGISTRATION, ORIENTATION & FAMILY EVENTS

  • Ensure that each child is accurately registered for their respective programs.
  • Assist families with registration for various programs such as ULC, teen activities, athletics, Summer Spot, and more. Facilitate sign-ups for events and activities.
  • Send a follow-up acceptance email to families, notifying them of their acceptance into the program.
  • Become familiar with and learn how to use the registration databases effectively.
  • Communicate class lists and athletic registrants to the Program Director and Education Manager and provide these lists to appropriate staff upon request.
  • Facilitate collecting and coordinating family contact information from the registration database to the Google Contacts parent list. Create a Parent Information Sheet on the shared Google Drive.
  • Assist the Program Director in organizing family orientations and events at HHYD.

 RECRUITMENT & RETENTION (follow recruitment/retention plan)

  • Assist the Program Director and team in meeting program attendance targets.
  • Providing excellent customer service to HHYD’s families and stakeholders.
  • Reporting concerns to HHYD’s leadership team.

 

FOOD SERVICE CERTIFICATION, TRAINING & REPORTING

  • Complete any required training and certification to assist with food service/distribution.
  • Communication in daily food orders and data meal reporting

 

MAINTAIN LOBBY AREA

  • Keep lobby space safe, clear, and organized.
  • Coordinate bulletin and digital communication boards to communicate effectively with staff, families, and students.

Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD) is seeking an Elementary Teacher to join our Urban Learning Center’s afterschool and summer programs. This full-time role involves teaching, curriculum development, lesson planning, and activity coordination for K-6th grade students.

Program Details

After School Program: Supports K-9th grade students with homework and academic skill-building from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Summer Program: Engages K-9th grade students in all-day sessions. Mornings focus on academics, while afternoons feature activities such as field trips, tours, arts, and STEM projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach and support student learning through structured lessons and activities.
  • Select and/or develop engaging curriculum aligned with student needs.
  • Plan, organize, and implement lessons and activities.
  • Foster a positive, supportive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

  • Licensed teacher or 1-2 years of youth development experience.
  • Effective classroom management and administrative abilities.

Create the most excellent teen program by strategically developing and implementing teen activities. Ensure the program/activities maintain a Christian focus and embrace HHYD’s Mission to provide a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of inner-city youth and their families.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teen Lead: Help work with teens and lead teen programming and small groups.
  2. Growing and cultivating teen participation.
  3. Building and nurturing relationships with youth, families, staff across the organization, stakeholders, and community members.


SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teen Leader:

  1. Oversee all HHYD’s teen programming, including monthly and seasonal themes, activities, character and social-emotional development, assessments, and community service projects.
  2. Hold weekly Bible studies and small group gatherings that focus on the spiritual, character, and intellectual development of teenagers.
  3. Overseeing a teen program calendar in increments of 4- or 6-week periods. Hold various group gatherings, such as sporting events, eating out, relationship building, career pathways, etc.
  4. Help teens develop career goals/life plans, monitor and achieve them, and work with parents, guardians, teachers, and staff. The goals should include high school graduation, college or career training, spiritual growth, employment, and career goals.
  5. Preserve and uphold HHYD’s values and character while enforcing behavior rules and procedures to ensure order within your teen group.
  6. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the program director.
  7. Participate in other HHYD programs and events as appropriate, as assigned by the program director.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in teaching, youth work, and administration.

Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD) is seeking a Floating Teacher to join our Urban Learning Center’s afterschool and summer programs. This part-time position is responsible for teaching and conducting classroom activities for K-9th grade students either in the absence of the regular teacher or in place of the teacher, as needed.

Program Details:

  • After School Program: Supports K-9th grade students with homework and academic skill-building from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
  • Summer Program: Engages K-9th grade students in all-day sessions. Mornings focus on academics, while afternoons feature activities such as field trips, tours, arts, and STEM projects.

Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD) is seeking Summer Spot Teacher Assistants to support our Summer Spot program from May 12th through June 12th. This seasonal position assists lead teachers in conducting classroom activities, supporting student engagement, and ensuring a positive learning environment for K-9 students.

Program Details:

  • Summer Spot Program: Provides full-day enrichment for K-8 students, with mornings focused on academics and afternoons dedicated to activities such as field trips, arts, STEM projects, and recreation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead teachers in delivering structured lessons and activities for K-8 students.
  • Support student learning through one-on-one and small-group instruction.
  • Help facilitate classroom management, transitions, and program logistics.
  • Engage students in hands-on enrichment activities, including arts, STEM, and recreation.
