MISSION OF HHYD: Provide a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of
inner-city youth and their families.

Position Description:

The Development Director plays a crucial leadership and implementation role in fundraising events, the Annual Fund, cultivating individual donors and providing fundraising support to the Executive Director. Additionally, the development director is responsible for overseeing HHYD’s communications, marketing, and public relations. This includes creating and producing print and electronic materials, managing the website, handling e-communications, and managing social networking activities. The Development Director will work on developing and directing the implementation of a 1-5-year fund development plan in collaboration with the Leadership Team and the Development Committee.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
 

1.Development

  • Annually oversee the development of HHYD’s Fund Development Plan.
  • Coordinate the Development Committee to achieve the goals outlined in the Development Plan.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Board members, and staff to ensure maintenance, cultivation of relationships, solicitation, moves management, lapse prevention, and recognition of donors.
  • Research and maintain organized donor records.
  • Identifying new donor prospects.
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and preparing materials and staff for site visits.
  • Collaborate with local churches, businesses, and community partners to build relationships, unlock new growth opportunities, and enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the Finance Director in creating budgets and ensuring activities are delivered within the agreed budget.


2. Fundraising: Events

  • Key fundraising events team staff member, working closely with the Events Chairperson.
  • Guide the implementation of all communications, including: 
    • Manage the creation and production of invitations, programs, event sponsorship letters, and table host communications. 
    • Manage the creation of posters, videos, slide shows, and other communications. Communicate with printer.
  • Oversee the event site, set-up, decorations, and other arrangements.
  • Oversee the silent auction, including planning, leading volunteers, soliciting items, setting up, and preparing materials.
  • Document events (photos, video, print) and create and send appreciation materials.
  • Assist in the creation of and oversee the implementation of new fundraising events. 
  • Solicit event sponsorships.


3. Fundraising: Annual Fund 

  • Identify the organization’s and programs’ marketing needs, create a marketing calendar, collaborate with staff to write content, oversee design and layout, and manage the production of brochures and marketing materials.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of distributing hard copy materials, mass email communications, campaigns, presentations, and appreciation materials.


4. Overall Communications and Marketing

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to establish and execute a comprehensive communications plan aimed at enhancing engagement across various stakeholders, thereby raising awareness and garnering support for the organization and its mission.
  • Develop and promote a compelling brand for HHYD that communicates our mission, vision, programs, and achievements with North Minneapolis children, youth, and their families, including annual reports, brochures, etc.
  • Identify and manage a calendar of public relations opportunities and activities and ensure that the appropriate staff are promptly notified.
  • Maintain an organized system of collecting stories, stats, and results.

5. Website, Social Media, Photography, Public Relations

  • Assist in developing compelling and dynamic website content and enhance web page presentation and design. 
  • Assist in developing and implementing social media content. Encourage participation from staff, board, and volunteers. 
  • Strategically plan and coordinate high-quality photography/video projects.  Manage storage of photos and videos.
  • Write and distribute promotional communication for all significant events, organizational achievements, and changes.


6. Participate in other communications and fundraising-related activities as assigned 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

  1. Committed to the mission of HHYD.
  2. Active faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with HHYD’s Statement of Faith.
  3. Demonstrated organizational, managerial, and communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  4. Results-based self-starter who can work well independently and within a team.
  5. Motivated, mature individual capable of contributing to strategic and tactical discussions and able to oversee project teams.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to balance multiple projects.
  7. Enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.

  9. Familiar with Raiser’s Edge, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, WordPress, email marketing software, and social media.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in development, marketing, communications, and/or public relations or related field.

Position Summary

The Finance Director is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for the financial health and long-term sustainability of Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD). Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role provides strategic leadership in budgeting, financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance, and internal controls. Additionally, the Finance Director oversees key administrative functions including human resources, IT coordination, and facilities management to ensure operational excellence in support of HHYD’s mission.

Specific Job Responsibilities

1. Finance & Accounting

  • Maintain accounts payable, receivable, and all applicable general ledger accounts.

  • Analyze and present monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.

  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process.

  • Manage organizational cash flow and maintain relationships with banking and investment institutions.

  • Create, update, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

  • Recommend improvements to business practices and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Enter data into Raiser’s Edge and generate monthly gift receipts.

2. Financial Transactions, Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of financial transactions into QuickBooks.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations of financial and donor-related records.

  • Prepare and present monthly reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.

3. Human Resources, Technology & Facilities Administration

  • Maintain compliant personnel records in accordance with laws and regulations.

  • Administer payroll, including review of time tracking, PTO, and deductions (may utilize third-party services).

  • Provide onboarding and orientation for new staff.

  • Oversee IT coordination and network support.

  • Supervise office administrative staff and coordinate office volunteers.

  • Oversee maintenance and management of HHYD facilities.

  • Approve and monitor facility-related expenses to ensure they align with budget.

  • Conduct and review background checks for all new hires and volunteers to ensure legal and organizational compliance.

4. Executive Leadership & Committee Participation

  • Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Participate in the Finance Committee and Development Committee to contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounts payable/receivable and bookkeeping.

  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations and contributing to mission-driven initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in compliance, audits, budgeting, and HR management.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.

  • Adaptable and flexible to shifting priorities and deadlines.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Create the most excellent teen program by strategically developing and implementing teen activities. Ensure the program/activities maintain a Christian focus and embrace HHYD’s Mission to provide a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of inner-city youth and their families.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teen Lead: Help work with teens and lead teen programming and small groups.
  2. Growing and cultivating teen participation.
  3. Building and nurturing relationships with youth, families, staff across the organization, stakeholders, and community members.


SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teen Leader:

  1. Oversee all HHYD’s teen programming, including monthly and seasonal themes, activities, character and social-emotional development, assessments, and community service projects.
  2. Hold weekly Bible studies and small group gatherings that focus on the spiritual, character, and intellectual development of teenagers.
  3. Overseeing a teen program calendar in increments of 4- or 6-week periods. Hold various group gatherings, such as sporting events, eating out, relationship building, career pathways, etc.
  4. Help teens develop career goals/life plans, monitor and achieve them, and work with parents, guardians, teachers, and staff. The goals should include high school graduation, college or career training, spiritual growth, employment, and career goals.
  5. Preserve and uphold HHYD’s values and character while enforcing behavior rules and procedures to ensure order within your teen group.
  6. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the program director.
  7. Participate in other HHYD programs and events as appropriate, as assigned by the program director.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION:

  2. Good organizational, managerial, communications skills, etc., Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Google Suites.

  4. Valid MN driver license and ability to comfortably operate a 15-passenger vehicle.

Classroom Coverage & Instruction

  • Provide homework help and academic support across subject areas.

  • Safely drive HHYD vans to transport students between designated locations.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance issues.

  • Collaborate with staff to coordinate transportation routes and schedules.

Qualifications
