MISSION OF HHYD: Provide a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of
inner-city youth and their families.

Position Description:

The Development Director plays a crucial leadership and implementation role in fundraising events, the Annual Fund, cultivating individual donors and providing fundraising support to the Executive Director. Additionally, the development director is responsible for overseeing HHYD’s communications, marketing, and public relations. This includes creating and producing print and electronic materials, managing the website, handling e-communications, and managing social networking activities. The Development Director will work on developing and directing the implementation of a 1-5-year fund development plan in collaboration with the Leadership Team and the Development Committee.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
 

1.Development

  • Annually oversee the development of HHYD’s Fund Development Plan.
  • Coordinate the Development Committee to achieve the goals outlined in the Development Plan.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Board members, and staff to ensure maintenance, cultivation of relationships, solicitation, moves management, lapse prevention, and recognition of donors.
  • Research and maintain organized donor records.
  • Identifying new donor prospects.
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and preparing materials and staff for site visits.
  • Collaborate with local churches, businesses, and community partners to build relationships, unlock new growth opportunities, and enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the Finance Director in creating budgets and ensuring activities are delivered within the agreed budget.


2. Fundraising: Events

  • Key fundraising events team staff member, working closely with the Events Chairperson.
  • Guide the implementation of all communications, including: 
    • Manage the creation and production of invitations, programs, event sponsorship letters, and table host communications. 
    • Manage the creation of posters, videos, slide shows, and other communications. Communicate with printer.
  • Oversee the event site, set-up, decorations, and other arrangements.
  • Oversee the silent auction, including planning, leading volunteers, soliciting items, setting up, and preparing materials.
  • Document events (photos, video, print) and create and send appreciation materials.
  • Assist in the creation of and oversee the implementation of new fundraising events. 
  • Solicit event sponsorships.


3. Fundraising: Annual Fund 

  • Identify the organization’s and programs’ marketing needs, create a marketing calendar, collaborate with staff to write content, oversee design and layout, and manage the production of brochures and marketing materials.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of distributing hard copy materials, mass email communications, campaigns, presentations, and appreciation materials.


4. Overall Communications and Marketing

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to establish and execute a comprehensive communications plan aimed at enhancing engagement across various stakeholders, thereby raising awareness and garnering support for the organization and its mission.
  • Develop and promote a compelling brand for HHYD that communicates our mission, vision, programs, and achievements with North Minneapolis children, youth, and their families, including annual reports, brochures, etc.
  • Identify and manage a calendar of public relations opportunities and activities and ensure that the appropriate staff are promptly notified.
  • Maintain an organized system of collecting stories, stats, and results.

5. Website, Social Media, Photography, Public Relations

  • Assist in developing compelling and dynamic website content and enhance web page presentation and design. 
  • Assist in developing and implementing social media content. Encourage participation from staff, board, and volunteers. 
  • Strategically plan and coordinate high-quality photography/video projects.  Manage storage of photos and videos.
  • Write and distribute promotional communication for all significant events, organizational achievements, and changes.

  3. Demonstrated organizational, managerial, and communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.

  5. Motivated, mature individual capable of contributing to strategic and tactical discussions and able to oversee project teams.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to balance multiple projects.

Education and Experience:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Education Manager/Teacher will develop, plan, implement curriculum, and coordinate Educational activities at HHYD. The Education Manager will ensure children’s educational needs are met through academic skill-building activities to increase students’ math and language arts achievement levels and pass state standards and local school grade-level tests. Furthermore, instruct students in HHYD’s educational programming (ULC, Summer Spot, Kid’s Club).

Education Manager

  1. Oversee/supervise the educational aspects and staff of ULC, Summer Spot, Kid’s Club, and other educational components of HHYD.
  2. Provide direction, training, supervision, and performance reviews of direct report staff members.
  3. Collaborate with the Program Director in implementing Christian components in HHYD’s educational curriculum.
  4. Oversee the development of lesson plans with clear objectives and measurement tools, including student’s spiritual, intellectual, and physical goals. Identify reliable and relevant testing metrics for measuring education standards.
  5. Complete all initiatives related to educational proposals/grants. Collaborate with the Development team to collect information pertinent to grant reporting when necessary. Upon request, participate in meetings, site visits, and presentations to potential supporters/grantors.
  6. Evaluate program results with the leadership team and problem-solve to adjust to reach desired educational goals.
  7. Function as a member of HHYD’s leadership team.


Teacher

  1. Responsible for teaching the students in class by developing lesson plans that support HHYD’s objectives.
  2. Ensure completion of pre and post-tests and other evaluation requirements for individual and classroom progress.
  3. Work with teachers/teaching aids to enhance the overall HHYD education program.
  4. Work in collaboration with parents and mainstream teachers on behalf of the students.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Administrative Assistant/Marketing Coordinator supports the Executive Director administratively and focuses on marketing and communication strategies to advance the mission of HHYD. This role also involves planning and executing HHYD’s communications, marketing, and public relations strategies, which include creating and overseeing the production of printed and digital materials, managing websites, electronic communications, and social networking activities. Provides administrative support to the leadership team as directed by the Executive Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and leadership team.

  2. Communications and Marketing
    Plan, coordinate, and execute communication, public relations, and marketing projects.

  3. Website, Social Media, Photography, Public Relations
    Assist in developing compelling and dynamic website content and enhance web page presentation and design.
    Develop and implement HHYD’s social media content.
    Plan and coordinate the capturing of high-quality photography/video projects.
    Manage storage of photos and videos.
    Write and distribute promotional communication for all major events, membership recruitment, parent communications, and organizational achievements and changes.

  4. Fundraising
    Work closely with the Executive Director, board members, and staff to maintain and nurture donor relationships.

  5. Events
    Key fundraising events team staff member, working closely with the Development Director and Management team.

Reporting to and in partnership with the Program Director and the Program team, the Director of Education will lead the educational programs, by creating a 1 to 3-year plan and taking responsibility for its implementation. Will oversee the curriculum development, staffing, and scheduling, working in conjunction with other program team members, parents/guardians, and community members. The Education Director will have the opportunity to build this program with clear cut goals and outcomes for growth.

Educational Responsibilities:
● Develop Hospitality House’s Educational program, plan and annual assessments.
● Coordinate all educational activities/programs during school year (after-school program) and all day summer program.
● Researching and selecting textbooks, as well as other educational materials.
● Ordering or authorizing the purchase of education related supplies.
● Lead the research and design of educational materials and instructional methods.
● Mentoring new teachers, teaching workshops or seminars.
● Observing teachers in the classroom.
● Supervise teachers including providing constructive feedback based on teacher evaluations.

Qualifications:
● 5-7 years of experience and licensure in education and education administration.
● Commitment to the mission of Hospitality House.
● A master’s degree in education administration preferred.
● Experience in creating annual educational plans and executing their implementation.
● Demonstrated excellence in organization, leadership, and managerial skills.
● Results based self-starter, able to work independently.
● High energy mature individual capable of contributing to strategic discussions.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
● Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

The Director will have the opportunity to build the development function of Hospitality House with clear cut goals and outcomes for growth.

Fundraising and Development
● Develop Hospitality House’s fund development plan annually
● Coordinate all fund development activities including action plan to meet objectives of fund development plan including budget management
● Secure financial support from individuals, foundation/corporations, churches, and other income strategies
● Manage the implementation of Raiser’s Edge and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
● Assist Executive Director with development of new fundraising relationships and assist in the maintenance of existing relationships
● Oversee/coordinate all fundraising special events
● Manage volunteers and staff for special event activities
● Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising with support from the Director of Finance
● Oversee communications and marketing planning
● Supervise development department staff
● Support Chair of the Board of Director’s Development Committee including leading monthly meetings and preparing any needed materials or reports.

Qualifications:
● 4-6 year experience in development and fundraising
● Commitment to the mission of Hospitality House
● Experience in creating and executing fund development plans
● Demonstrated excellence in organizational, leadership. and managerial skills
● Results based self-starter, able to work independently, entrepreneurial
● High energy mature individual capable of contributing to strategic and tactical discussions
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
● Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar software
