Mission: Hospitality House Youth Development provides a Christian outreach focused on the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of inner-city youth and their families.

Exhibiting and relying on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Executive Director leads HHYD as an organization inspired and guided by a Christ-centered focus.

Reporting to the Board Chair and driving the mission and vision of HHYD, the Executive Director is responsible and accountable for providing guidance and strategic direction to the organization while overseeing the fundraising and community relations, program and service delivery, and operations and finances.

Responsibilities:

Christ-Centered Visionary Leadership

    • Lead by exhibiting a passion for Jesus Christ, a deep, personal faith, staff discipleship, and dependence and commitment to prayer.
    • Work closely with board directors and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization.
    • In collaboration with staff and the board of directors, establish strategic business plans for achieving goals and objectives. Review and report progress annually.
    • Plan monthly Board meeting agendas with the Board Chair and provide relevant reports, materials, and information as needed for discussion.
    • Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations, successful programming, community engagement, and fundraising.
    • Maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission.
    • Establish a work plan, measurable goals, and a professional development plan with direct reports. Periodically review progress towards those efforts and take corrective measures as needed.


Fundraising and Community Relations

    • Oversee the functions of the development office to meet the annual fundraising goals by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, churches and individual donors.
    • Work with staff and board on annual fundraising benefits and additional events, and oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media.
    • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to increase community awareness and expand programs.
    • Ensure that the organization and its mission, vision, programs, and services are consistently presented in a Christ-centered positive image to stakeholders and the general public.
    • Develop and nurture strong relationships with other community leaders in schools, churches, coaching, law enforcement and other organizations.
    • Seek to develop and nurture strong relationships with media.


Program and Service Delivery

    • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of services and programs by listening to stakeholders, aligning with the organization’s goals, allocating sufficient resources, and using information garnered through evaluation to make decisions and strengthen programs.
    • Oversee design, marketing, promotion and delivery of programs and services.
    • Oversee selection of educational, sports and other program curricula.


Operations and Finance

    • Responsible stewardship of resources and effective financial management.
    • In partnership with the Controller and Board Finance Committee, oversee the preparation and continuous management of the annual budget.
    • Ensure all personnel policies and procedures fully conform to current local, state, and federal laws and regulations.


Required skills and qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in management, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
  • Have an authentic faith in Jesus Christ—living out the gospel in work and life.
  • Passion for urban young people from multicultural backgrounds and the community HHYD serves.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in non-profit management, business or related field.

Reporting to and in partnership with the Program Director and the Program team, the Director of Education will lead the educational programs, by creating a 1 to 3-year plan and taking responsibility for its implementation. Will oversee the curriculum development, staffing, and scheduling, working in conjunction with other program team members, parents/guardians, and community members. The Education Director will have the opportunity to build this program with clear cut goals and outcomes for growth.

Educational Responsibilities:

  • Develop Hospitality House’s Educational program, plan and annual assessments.
  • Coordinate all educational activities/programs during school year (after-school program) and all day summer program.
  • Researching and selecting textbooks, as well as other educational materials.
  • Ordering or authorizing the purchase of education related supplies.
  • Lead the research and design of educational materials and instructional methods.
  • Mentoring new teachers, teaching workshops or seminars.
  • Observing teachers in the classroom.
  • Supervise teachers including providing constructive feedback based on teacher evaluations.


Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience and licensure in education and education administration.
  • Commitment to the mission of Hospitality House.
  • A master’s degree in education administration preferred.
  • Experience in creating annual educational plans and executing their implementation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization, leadership, and managerial skills.
  • Results based self-starter, able to work independently.
  • High energy mature individual capable of contributing to strategic discussions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Position Description:

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director and the Leadership team, the Director of Development will lead the fundraising and development functions of the organization by creating a 1 to 3-year fund development plan and taking responsibility for its implementation. The Director will have the opportunity to build the development function of Hospitality House with clear cut goals and outcomes for growth.

Fundraising and Development
● Develop Hospitality House’s fund development plan annually
● Coordinate all fund development activities including action plan to meet objectives of fund development plan including budget management
● Secure financial support from individuals, foundation/corporations, churches, and other income strategies
● Manage the implementation of Raiser’s Edge and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
● Assist Executive Director with development of new fundraising relationships and assist in the maintenance of existing relationships
● Oversee/coordinate all fundraising special events
● Manage volunteers and staff for special event activities
● Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising with support from the Director of Finance
● Oversee communications and marketing planning
● Supervise development department staff
● Support Chair of the Board of Director’s Development Committee including leading monthly meetings and preparing any needed materials or reports.

Qualifications:
● 4-6 year experience in development and fundraising
● Commitment to the mission of Hospitality House
● Experience in creating and executing fund development plans
● Demonstrated excellence in organizational, leadership. and managerial skills
● Results based self-starter, able to work independently, entrepreneurial
● High energy mature individual capable of contributing to strategic and tactical discussions
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
● Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar software
