Hospitality House is celebrating Black History Month
Remembering God’s Love on Valentine’s Day
LEGO Building Competition
This past month, our Afterschool students participated in a LEGO Building Contest.
Our students designed and built things that they would like to see if Hospitality House were to remodel and/or grow.
Below is our 1st graders beginning their construction work.
Here’s an amazing 2nd grader, in process of creating a model of a second gym.
He loves to play basketball so there was no doubt that an additional basketball court and gym were his project.
Also in our LEGO contest, another student wanted to have a new indoor pool as part of growing Hospitality House.
He also loves pirates and ships so he included them in his new Hospitality House pool.
Many of our kids were very excited about the possibility of expanding Hospitality House!
Finally, a special thank you to our supporters for helping us work with these special children.
NEW Microsoft Office Zoom Workshop
We got a chance to try another new thing at Hospitality House: a Zoom Workshop! Michael Reeves, who has run many IT workshops previous to the Covid Pandemic, just began a 9-week series with our teens on how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The sessions are weekly for an hour and Michael provides worksheets and leads the class via Zoom. So far it is working very well.
In next month’s e-blast we will try to include a short video so you can participate, too!
Remembering Robert Lee “Bob” Williams
Hospitality House Youth Development Mourns the Passing of Robert Lee “Bob” Williams, Former Board Chair
Bob Williams passed away on January 19, 2021, at the age of 89. He lived a remarkable life as a faithful servant of the Lord and was well-known for being the first Black basketball player for the Minneapolis Lakers. He also played with the Harlem Globetrotters. He served on the HHYD Board of Directors for many years and was Chairman for 15 years. For additional details about Bob, you can access his obituary here.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Williams Family during this difficult time. He will surely be missed.
Looking For Sponsors
We have several large fundraising events coming up including our Spring Breakfast (June), Women’s Luncheon (August), and our Annual Fall Banquet. We’re currently looking for business sponsors to help cover the event costs.
If you or anyone you know would be interested in being a business sponsor, we have many different levels to choose from. Our top level is $26,000, but we have options all the way to a $600 level. Whatever support you are able to provide will be greatly appreciated!
