Fall Banquet 2022 Recap + Video

Jesus said, “Who is my FAMILY… those who do the will of my Father.”
Matthew 12:46-48

Family was the theme for this year’s Fall Banquet that brought together many new and familiar supporters to learn more about how we inspire, encourage, and develop the youth of North Minneapolis. Bethel Head Football Coach Steve Johnson shared an inspiring message about his family and being grateful. We honored our youth, ate great food, and enjoyed the blessing of fellowship with our HHYD family. If you were unable to attend our Fall Banquet, you can access the full event here.

We are grateful for the 300+ guests who have contributed to HHYD through the Fall Banquet. These critical funds help our academic and athletic programs, community outreach, and further the development of our teen program. We would like to thank all who helped with the event including all who donated to our silent auction, our sponsors, Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubroom, our Board and Development Committee, and all staff.

Teen Program Update

At the Kickoff Event on October 10th, we had 24 parents and students attend. Parents seemed very interested in what was offered and wanted to learn how their teen could stay involved.

We had 13 students attend the college tours last week on October 19th and 20th to North Central University and Bethel University.

This week we will host the Teen Extravaganza on Friday, October 28th as an evening to envision teens on the teen programs and have a blast together.

A Big Thank You to Liberty Diversified International

Liberty Diversified International (LDI), a leader in paper, packaging, plastics, and workspaces recently partnered with HHYD as part of their annual giving campaign. This year’s theme of Leveling the Playing Field for Education was a perfect opportunity for Reverend Johnny Hunter, HHYD Executive Director and Nick Mingo, HHYD Teacher to share information with LDI employees about our programs.

In the process, employees were given the opportunity to make financial donations to HHYD, and encouraged to make site visits, or to volunteer. In addition, the employee giving campaign also included a service project allowing LDI employees to assemble packages of school supplies for HHYD students. There was plenty of food and fun, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this great event. Bless you all LDI employees!

Staff vs. Students

On September 30, the ULC teachers challenged the students to a friendly competition that included tug of war and basketball games. On the line were bragging rights. In the end, the teachers believe they have proven once again that the pupil can never be greater than the master. Better luck next year kids!

The staff team is in uniform and ready for the competition.
